Terms of service
Last updated 5 August 2026.
Draft, pending legal review. This document describes how Tariffwright actually works and every factual statement in it has been checked against the running system. It has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer, and it is published in this state so that it is accurate rather than absent. If you are evaluating Tariffwright commercially, ask for the reviewed version.
The agreement
These terms are between you (or the company you act for) and the operator of Tariffwright. Using Tariffwright means accepting them.
What Tariffwright is — and firmly is not
Tariffwright organises product data, suggests tariff classifications with the evidence behind them, and calculates landed cost.
It is not a customs broker, not a law firm, and not a filing service. Nothing here is legal advice or a customs ruling, and nothing here guarantees duty treatment or admissibility. Tariffwright does not file declarations and cannot do so on your behalf.
You remain responsible for your own customs declarations. That responsibility sits with the importer by law and cannot be moved to a software vendor. Suggestions are a starting point for a decision you make — which is why no classification becomes a record until a person with approval authority approves it, and why every suggestion shows what it relied on and what it did not know.
We strongly recommend qualified customs or legal review before relying on any classification for an actual entry.
Your data is yours
- You keep all rights in the product data, documents and records you put in.
- We do not use your content to train models, do not aggregate it into benchmarks or industry reports, and do not sell or share it.
- You can export everything at any time, in JSON or CSV, without asking us.
- You can delete everything permanently at any time.
- We access your workspace content only to fix a fault you have reported, or where we are legally required to.
Your responsibilities
- Provide accurate information, and keep your sign-in access to yourself.
- Have the right to upload what you upload, including supplier documents.
- Send supplier requests only to people you have a genuine business relationship with. The supplier portal is not a mailing tool.
- Do not attempt to access another workspace's data, disrupt the service, or probe it without permission. Responsible security reports are welcome — write to us.
Availability
There is no uptime commitment. Tariffwright runs on self-operated infrastructure without redundancy, and promising a percentage that nothing enforces would be dishonest. In practice the service is monitored and restored quickly, and your data is backed up daily with restores verified daily — but availability is best-effort at this stage, and you should not build a time-critical border process around it.
This is one of the things that will change as the product matures, and this section will change with it.
Fees
Paid audits and subscriptions are invoiced directly at the price agreed with you in writing before any work starts. Prices shown on the pricing page are current hypotheses, not a binding tariff, and design-partner pricing is fixed for the term agreed. Nothing is charged automatically without your agreement.
Ending it
You may stop using Tariffwright at any time and delete your workspace yourself. We may suspend access for non-payment, or for use that endangers the service or other customers — in which case you will be told why and given a reasonable opportunity to export your data first, except where that is impossible.
Liability
Tariffwright is provided as-is, without warranties beyond those that cannot be excluded by law. To the extent the law allows, our total liability arising from the service is limited to the fees you paid in the twelve months before the claim.
Specifically and importantly: we are not liable for duties, penalties, reassessments, detentions or delays arising from a classification you approved or a cost estimate you relied on. The product exists to make those decisions better-informed and auditable; it does not assume them.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
Changes and governing law
If these terms change materially, customers will be told before the change takes effect. These terms are governed by the laws of the province in which the operator is resident and of Canada as applicable.

Standard disclaimer
Tariffwright provides product-data organization, classification suggestions, and cost-planning tools. Suggestions are based on the information and source versions shown and may be incomplete or incorrect. They are not legal advice, a customs ruling, or a guarantee of duty treatment or admissibility. The importer remains responsible for its declarations and should obtain qualified customs or legal review where appropriate.
